It was quite an unsettled day today which was unfortunate for the organizers of the Burlington Sound of Music Festivals parade. Actually unsettled was an understatement. the skies opened up and it poured cats and dogs.

In previous year the parade followed a route right smack in the middle of downtown Burlington on the Saturday of the main festival. It was always our tradition to round up the kids and take then down to enjoy the marching bands and colourful floats. My daughter usually volunteers to accumulate the necessary volunteer hours required for students to graduate high school. She has more than enough and in her grade 12 year opted out of volunteering this year to work for cold hard cash.

My son is in grade 9 so it is his turn to walk the parade to get donations from the on lookers. After today he is up to 12 hours of volunteer hours toward his required 40 hours.

This years parade (a week earlier than the festival) made its way through the more residential side of the city and ended at a local high school for a spectacular field show. Despite the pouring rain my son had a blast and collected a nice chunk of change for the festival.

While my son was marching through the streets for the better of the festival I decided to go homes and make a quick batch of flourless cookies. They literally took 15 minutes from start to finish but once the kids got home it took less than that for half the batch to get devoured.

I used 0 calorie splenda instead of sugar but you could also choose to use stevia or other natural sweetener of your liking.

There are 9.8g net carbs, 4.4g protein and 4 Weight Watchers points per cookie.
